Creative title
 I wanted to play around with shading so I made a sand castle  Quite happy with how it turned out but some of the shading of the towers could be better and the animation is a bit dodgy  Blue emote has had too much sugar  If you google image sandcastle I'm pretty sure you'll find the one I based the shade off  Critiques appriciated  Time spent: About 5-5.5 hours pixelling, 20-30 minutes animating Comments

Critiques
The design of the castle is really nice as well as the usage of colors. What I want to point out is (what you said yourself as well) is the shading. At some points it's not clear where the light source is, I think if you adjust that it would look even better.
What I also enjoy in this are all the emotes doing different things. Perhaps you can put in more variation with every emote, but that's just a small option.
In overall a nice piece of art
There are a few small gripes I have with it though. While the sand on the ground looks absolutely fabulous, and is probably one of the best examples of pixel art sand I've seen, the castle itself looks a little too smooth in my opinion. You could add some more texture to it to increase the sandy look, if you see what I mean.
Also, the purple emote, doing the whole paranoid look, and the red one at the top, look somewhat odd compared to the other emoticons, like you didn't put as much effort into those particular ones.
Other than that, though, ACE work, you deserve a fav. :3
